Tell them to look at the Shelter website which has info for owners struggling to pay their mortgage and to post their situation on the Debt Free wanabee board.

They have no debt other than his expenses (unpaid) on a credit card, as he was in sales he paid hotel, fuel etc up front then claimed back.

Can they advise if he can get out of this?

I think the posters on the DFW board are sympathetic and experienced at the various strategies to write off or repay debts at token amounts. The Direct Gov website also has good debt advice.

I wouldn't like to take a guess that he could 'get out' of paying for his employers expenses since he billed them on this own personal account, by the sounds of it, but the posters there may know the position.

Thanks - I have also asked a few questions on the redundancy board but they'd need to post SOA as that level of detail would need them to post. They are in shock right now but will advise. Less panicked now mortgage co agreed to a payment break.

Anyone reading this - insurance is so worth it :(
