Skipton or Accord?

I might change my business to that - Im only fee free if you take xy&z with me and I can retire off your commission. Jeez man lol!
Have you got the key facts document which has section 4 titled what we will charge for our service?
If so, what does that say because seriously they are having a laugh!
Lets look at this again -
1 - There is little to differ between the 2 products that your adviser feels most suitable.
2 - One costs £00's more than the other
3 - They blame servicing time of the lender to why you should spend the extra few hundred pound, if not pay £95 for their advice.
The way I see it is if the Skipton were never going to be able to service the mortgage or be suitable for your circumstances, then they should never been offered as an option. I would demand that they do it free of charge, or go with another broker, or go direct and make a complaint to them!I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi Homer..in fact she never offered the Skipton! Its was only because i was doing my own research that I suggested it! To be honest i only wanted to see broker if they could get me a better deal than i can get myself. Seeing as the Skipton one has now been withdrawn then the Accord one is my only option if it is still around. I will however be keeping my eyes open before i see her on Tues!0

Personally I agree with homer
She is trying to have her cake and eat it.
EIther go direct yourself, or find another broker, this ones sounds like she is not offering a good service at all
If there was another reason for excluding Skipton i.e. you do not meet their criteria for some reason, then fine, - however it was simply down to service, and she will charge you an extra £95 for the benefit of you finding your own scheme.
Bit of a nerve if you ask me!
I know its all irrelevant now with the Skipton deal, but how do you know she will offer you the best deal when you go and see her on Tuesday?

it's obvious the recommendation was down to proc fee, and not service - I'd find a better broker.
Or panel - especially if based in an Estate Agent - possibly another 'broker' getting away with calling themselves Whole of Market while being restricted to a small panel.
'Adviser' may have been thinking:
"No proc fee for going with Skipton so I'll go off panel and charge a fee."
or
"I'll say I'll charge a fee to persuade them not to use a lender I don't have access to."
Not many advice based reasons to choose Accord over Skipton - have to admit that I do think the service is better, but not THAT much better.
Skipton long term SVR has traditionally been better but range of products is less varied - somewhat irrelevant when looking at 10 year fixed rates.I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)You should note that this site doesn't check my status as an IFA, so you need to take my word for it. For what it's worth, I took out an Accord mortgage late last year and it went through painlessly.
This made a pleasant change from a couple I had tried previously.
No problems so far.0
