Heeeeelp...I want to run my PC to my TV please...;-)

Options
I would like to connect my TV to a PC to watch Lovefilm through it. I have a Panasonic Viera tx-p50c10b (no VGA ) and a Samsung NC10 (no HDMI) Can you tell me if this is possible please and what I need to do this .?? I have bought this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2710835436...84.m1439.l2648
but it still doesn't work..Maybe a better quality may help I dunnoe...???

Also, while I am here asking ...We can watch BBC iplayer and Itv through our Freesat box ( Humax) connected to the internet modem. Channel 4 and 5 are not on the Humax so want to watch them through the PS3..However, the Playstation 3 won't let let us watch Channel 4 or 5 on demand for some reason...It says not enough memory. This is a 320gb PS3 thats hardly used...!!! ...Is there anyway of making this work

Cheers ;-)

Out of interest, how have you plugged that cable in to your TV? VGA from the laptop to the HDMI on the TV and loose audio jack plugged into your computer?

This is never going to be easy unless you have HDMI on your PC. Even connecting the audio and video separately will produce "lip sync" issues.
  • That converter looks like it converts in the wrong direction to what you require. You need a VGA to HDMI converter whereas that is a HDMI to vga converter. I assume that the Samsung only has vga outputs and your TV doesn't have vga inputs.

Be careful before purchasing because there appears to be some compatibility problems on some of these devices. Some people on Amazon claiming that it did not work with their larger TV's but will on smaller TV's, which seems strange and doesn't sound like it is the route of the problem.
VGA to HDMI 1 star reviews

They seem cheaper on eBay but one of those also mention some compatibility problems so beware! Check before spending any money!

Hmmmmm I know that now...Looks like we may have to indulge in a new laptop by the looks of things ...One with HDMI.An expense I dont really want but hey ho worse things happen at seah eh .. ;-))

a lovefilm compatible set top box, and an aerial plugged into tv for 4&5 may be cheaper and neater.

I didnt even realise there was one...LOL

Only thing is I like to watch 4 & 5 on demand too...as in my original post we can only watch ITV and BBC through the PS3 for some reason so a laptop would sort all problems out in one...I think....

Lovefilm is on the PS3 isn't it.

Try looking for Android set top box, or a tablet with hdmi output, iPlayer does work slightly different, can't download and watch later (as of yet).

Or even look at getting youview, has all the on demand channels, although not lovefilm.

    Lot's of alternatives out there
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

Oh Dear now I am boggled....Youview...Android box...??? Will have to do some Googling me thinks..

I should put my original post into better words...OK here goes...
I do watch Lovefilm through the PS3 no problems at all...I can aslo watch BBC iplayer and ITV Player...Unfortunately most things I watch are on 4 or 5...Like I said our PS3 won't play them...Sooo I thought I would try and put my ' daughters old Samsung NC10 on the TV stand and use it for all my 'TV needs'...This is where I wanted advice as the netbook only has VGA and the TV has HDMI...So I was stumped really...I now realise I am expecting the impossible ( brilliant film btw ha..! ) so will look at what you have suggested and have a rethink..
    Cheers again ;-)

Sorry this is so long winded but I dont explain things very well..DOH :(
  • Youview a nono...I need a TV aerial for it and only have a Freesat box with Sky Dish !

unless you're in a bad area, a cheap indoor aerial might work as the signals are stronger after switchover
