  • Just signed up to the new challenge ~ looks great! I WILL succeed this time! :D

Managed another 2 SFD's and just bought milk and bread today.

In preparation for March's challenge I've done a 2 week menu plan so I can make sure I use things up in cupboards/fridge and not buy any carp I don't need. Feeling very inspired today and its a good feeling!

Have a good evening all :)
  • Sorry to hear about your Mum PurpleJay ~ I hope all's well with her today?

It's one of my dreams to go to Italy Ninno820 ~ there's hope for me yet!

Hope the peppermint tea works nannygladys ~ feel better soon!
  • Hi all

Need to chivvy DS2 into bed in a minute. Will check out the March challenge later but feeling fairly optimistic - even if the car MOT is due next month!

I have just spent £20 in Boots online. Feel really guilty but I have no moisturiser, no toner, hardly any face wash and hardly any shampoo left. When it comes to my skin I have to buy a certain brand or my skin is a disaster. The face wash always lasts me about six months because I only use a tiny bit so its worth it really. There's me justifying my spending to you all!!

Right, off to sort DS out then will see what I need to be doing for March!
  • Oh my goodness - I'm so embarassed!!! Just worked out my totals so far this month and have gone spectacularly over my budgets. Rather frustrated at myself as feel as though I should have done better but ran everything down so much during Jan I really didn't have anything in to clear or fall back on. Have also spent a huge amount on fresh fruit this month (probably over £20/30 a week for 6 of us) as we were all feeling rather under the weather and needed the immune system boost.
Total budget for the month for food/petrol/other spends was £520 - total spends this month are £806.74!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats £286 over budget :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

However, going to take this frustration at my overspend to really pull the purse strings in for March. No half-term to contend with and have a reasonable amount in the cupboards and freezer to start the month off with.

Feel free to whip us into shape Kat!!! Need the stricness back in my life. Going to spend the evening planning when I will do my spends and budget for the month ahead.

  • Hi everyone, thank you for you hugs and wished you lovely lot :)

Mum was ok when I went yesterday, no worse for her trip to a&e! Her leg doesn't seem to be bothering her at all. She had regular paracetamol so that will be giving some relief. She knew me and was alert and interested in photos of M. A good visit. the nurse explained properly what happened. Mum made a right old fuss when they put her to bed but once done she was fine. I wish that was easier for her but as she is mostly settled, they don't want to sedate her further as she will be asleep and then not eating or drinking (we have been there). It is a fine balance.

I have updated my totals and am still slightly within my grocery budget which I am really chuffed about. I went to the local garage yesterday instead of the supermarket and while things may be a few pence more I only spent a fiver including milk, tinned tomatoes, crisps and cookies ( we had run out of all these). I will need a proper shop later this week or at the weekend. Will need bread and milk for sure but maybe not much else until March :)

I made another £26 this weekend on eBay taking the total to £77 but won't reach my target now unless there is a rush! I have about 10 items listed but was falling asleep last night while listing and so gave up.

My SFD target was only 15 days but not even managed half that :( I may manage a couple more. Lots of low spend days though and I have been monitoring my spends fairly well so not to disappointed. I am really going to try hard in March.

Right time for bed. I am still catching up on sleep and had my first day back at work today and was on training so I am shattered! Night night xx

Glad your Mum is OK after her fall PJ, parents are a worry.
I signed up for the March challange last night and spending the morning working on budgets and doing a stock take of all the food in the house - that might take me some time:rotfl: just cant seem to get to the botton of it but March will be the month for that I think.

Read my meters this morning, do this every Tuesday:
Electric usage 30 units so down 4 units on the week
Gas usage 6 units so the same as last week.
Not sure why the electric is down, cant think that I have done anything different, perhaps I didnt watch TV as much:)

Started looking for stuff for a car boot, DD1 and I are doing it between us in March, so that will go to the 'make £100' she has much more stuff than me, but I will winkle a few bits and bobs out, I'll just have to make sure I dont buy anything:)

Anyway off to the kitchen with notebook in hand. I know what Im eating the rest of this month so I can then work out a new plan - I hope

Everyone have a good day and happy budgetting

  • Good Morning to you all...

Can't beleive it's nearing 1100 already. I see some of you have signed up to the March Challenge - very well done! And more of you are ready to get rid of February as I am! BeckyBoo that isn't a massive amount over budget considering one of you isn't working. Do you know where it all went though - I have a feeling you are on top of this though. You've done good though I think and I know I love some fresh oranges when I am feeling ill so never begrudge yourself some fruit!

PurpleJay I am so glad Mama Jay is a little better and alert! The pictures are bound to jog some memories!!

L2B are you the one doing lots of overtime as well..? I hope all goes well at the hospital though!! Yorkshirelass you are grabbing what you need to last many months - this is not a bad thing. I am glad I bought soap and hair-spray at the beginning of the month ( 11px4 soap and 34px3 hairspray from Mr T ) as I hate buying beauty bits that are not organic so thought if it's going to carp products might as well do it properly and get something REALLY MSE!!

I can't stop yawning. I think something energy related might need to be bulk bought at the beginning of the month to combat this.

Payslip viewed this morning. £38 short of what I thought it might be.. but still able to tuck away £1200 this month on top of the £300 scored through eBay this month.... a nice rounded £1500 which would ultimately be my bike loan if I wasn't moving or had a birthday to worry about - but hey I shall await March's payslip with bated breath to see what I can add to this... seems like this incessant overtime is paying off!

I have another 46 hours to claim by the end of this month all going well!

Right.. I need a red bull!

Wow that's impressive (slightly jaleous :o ) but imagine if you can keep going like that (and survive it ;)) you'd be done in about 7 months :T:T You'd def make your target, GO NSK :T
