    They simply consider you a risk.

    Your income is good (above average), and your debt isn't excessive against your income.

    Sounds like you have a history of managing credit. However, you say you've only a small limit on an RBS card so they don't rate you either!

    You also say you've consolidated other debts (into a loan or loans?) including those of your wife, and that you've got a joint account with her.

    I'd be ordering a copy of your wife's credit report and seeing what's on there, because I suspect that's what's affected your application (as you will be financially associated).

    I'm assuming you're on the electoral roll at your current address, and that you've been on it at all previous addresses going back 3-6 years...and that your wife has the same traceability/stability in her address history?

    I reckon that's probably it, I'll get her to get a credit report and see what it says. We have moved about a fair bit in the last few years, but I'm pretty sure we've been registered at each address.

    Doesn't sound like there is much I can do about it in the short term, so I'll just have to live with it for now.
