Removing mould

Options
I was just hoping someone had a remedy for removing mould from shower grouting. I've tried those expensive mould removers but have not had much luck and don't think they've removed much.

Any tips?

No tips but want to follow this thread as I need some ideas too ..
Love reading the oldstyle board...always something to learn!
  • Have you tried the Dettol mould remover? It's about £3 from Tesco but on offer frequently. I've had quite good results cleaning by my cooker with it and that's obviously a greasy area, I've also removed mould from by my patio doors with it.
  • I saw a thread a while ago about a similar subject and bicarbonate of soda made into a paste with bleach was suggested. I'll try and find the post and bump it x
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:
  • I use tea tree oil diluted with vinegar and it works like a charm
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

When I had mould on my bathroom wall, I used a mix of soda crystals and a small amount of bleach. Plastered the dryish mix onto the mould and left it for 20 mins then wiped off. Wipe then with a clean damp cloth and leave to dry.
Result - all signs of mould gone and it stayed gone right through the summer months. Reapeared last month so I did same process again. So far so good, no sign of it.
Had previously tried just belach but did not get the same excellent result,
Also worth mentioning that the bathroom wall was pained with F&B emulsion in quite a deep coffee colour but the mix did not take any of the colour out of it.
    Hope this helps someone.
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend
  • Thank you, I will give the soda crystals a try.

Had a similar problem with tiles round bath. I poured a little thick bleach into an old saucer and used a brush to paint it onto the grouting. Rinsed off after about an hour. Grout clean. Job done.
