I will have to see what happens when I'm there next. I'm not trying to be awkward but it just seems silly to pick times that clash like that when u r a lone parent.
  • Whatever the morals etc etc etc, the fact is your adviser cannot demand that you sign on at a time that is not suitable, it is in the guidelines for Lone Parents, they are obligated to give you time that will enable you to pick up/drop off your kids at school.

    You've got yourself a jobsworth!

Absolutely ridiculous - they are just being awkward and need putting back in their place!

You can't change the time. Either sign on at the time they request or not sign on at all. Surely there is a childminder in your area who could take your child 1 day in every 14 days for an hour or two. Why do you not know any other mothers? Do you not speak with anyone when waiting at the school gates.....to get a job you need to be networking...talking with other people and telling them you are looking for a job. It's amazing how much work can be found that way.

How many child minders will keep a place open for 2 hours every other week? Baring in mind that she may then have to turn away another child from a full time place because of the OP's child.

"Can't change the time"? "To get a job you need to be networking"? Oh dear. LMAO
OP. If they don't change the time ask them to put it in writing. I'm sure that within the 'Working week' there will be plenty of slots where they could slide you in. And I wouldn't leave a child with someone who wasn't vetted or who wasn't a very close friend. :-)
