Divorce question

I don't think divorce is that hard these days considering how frequently the courts deal with it. When I cited my husband's unreasonable behaviour he refused to admit to most of the things included in my divorce petition so I allowed revisions to be made before submission to the courts and basically, I technically divorced my husband for calling me fat after I had our baby in the end. Seriously!
I started proceedings in May 06 and had my decree absolute just before Christmas along with a cheque for my small share of his assets (hey, I had his kid - he can flaming well compensate me for it regardless of the length of our marriage). The court even accepted my statement of arrangements for children as "I am trying to work with [ex's parents] to come to an agreement but at present [ex] is unwilling to co-operate. I would like my child to have a good relationship with his Father and hope that will be the case at some point in the future." The point of my example considering you don't have kids is simply to illustrate the fact that the court couldn't care less about the individuals involved as long as everyone's filled in the right boxes and submitted the correct forms at the appropriate stages of procedure!
Discuss with a solicitor what your options are. You can't just make up grounds for unreasonable behaviour however abandoning you in a house you couldn't afford is pretty unreasonable... It might be the courts can grant you a divorce in his absence on those grounds but only a qualified solicitor can confirm where you stand. Good luck! Elle x.0 -
