Yes I also think I am perhaps a bit too picky. Like you BlueBella, I don't enter holiday comps (I have 3 kids and they're always either for couples or a family of 4), nor ones for days out or weekends away that are more than an hour or so away from me, nor for DVDs I don't have an interest in, nor for most food related things (apart from hampers and chocolate!!!). So that pretty much leaves me with the most popular comps, ie. vouchers, cash, gadgets etc - which of course have thousands and thousands of entrants, giving me only the slimmest of chances of a win!!

Yes, I enter to win for the kids (clothing, toys, vouchers etc), and the pets, and vouchers, cash, tvs and household items for me or my family. The weekend breaks, spa breaks, even concert/gig tickets are also out for me - as no good when you have kids and family commitments and need to pay for travel! I'll enter some food comps - mostly for hampers - but those get thousands of entries too.

If Facebook would get their ar**s kicked into gear and STOPPED companies from running Like and Share comps, there would be far more App comps on the board! Think loads of us are trying to stay clear of the like and shares!

Just bugs me that Facebook are going around and closing innocent compers accounts down for liking and sharing when it is the company pages they should be handing out warnings and bans to!

Sorry had to vent - hate Facebook at the mo!

Is there anyway of reporting the companies to facebook? :o

I'm the same though, I have whole pages with red crosses. Way too many comps for things that I wouldn't want (why would I want to win someone's pants?!), ticket comps are pretty much always for london, would cost me a fortune (or many hours!) to travel anywhere else in the country so don't bother with most UK holiday based comps, pets, children, home appliances (i rent and would have no room for them), vouchers were I would have to spend more than the value when I wouldn't choose to buy anything from the company normally, most items of clothing they have comps for I find horrible, and a lot of the twitter comps are for pointless prizes and over the last year I've definitely become more selective with my comping as was ending up with things that I had no idea what to do with..

I also only now enter the app comps on Facebook, and I agree Companies should be fined or banned for promoting the Like and Share comps. Surely with all those boycotting these types of comps something will be done.

Thanks all for putting into words what I am finding at the moment. It is hard to stay motivated when there is so little I want to enter. Those dominant red crosses are sapping my comping energy and swallowing up the little green ticks :-(

I am normally optimistic so glad to hear it may well pass.

    Thanks guys and gals x

I hope you feel comforted knowing you are not the only one! More reds than greens for many of us it seems! :(

If anyone does know how we could go about reporting a company on Facebook for running a like and share, please let us all know - it lots of us complain/report, then maybe the companies will be forced to change! :D

  • You can report a page on FB - but it's annoying how it's just tick box options, there's nowhere to give more details.

However, I've just tried the 'I want to report a post, not the entire page', and it says:

To better help you, we need an example of the abuse you've experienced. Please report the offensive content to us directly from where it occurred.

To report a Page post, go to the Page wall, place your mouse over the the post and click the x that appears in the upper right corner. Select the Report/Mark as Spam link.

A like/share comp is obviously not abuse, but maybe it's worth clicking the Xs ...?

Yes! I just to look too! I clicked on the arrow tab (beside messages) on a company page, and then clicked on the option for 'report page' and it said:

    What best describes this?
    Other/abusive content
    Not a public place
    Event at another Place
    Permanently closed
    Duplicate of another Place
    Miscategorised Place

BUT then, out of curiosity, I went to another page and looked at the same 'report this page' and I got these two options!:

I want to unlike this Page
I want the Page taken down

So THEN I tried a third company page and these were the options:

    I just don't like it
It's harassing me or someone I know
I think it shouldn't be on Facebook
    It's spam or a scam
I want to report a post, not the entire Page
    It's duplicated or miscategorised

    OMG I'm confused now!

Glad it's not just me then! I'm struggling too and was beginning to think I was getting overly fussy:o

I'm trying to limit the amount of like & share comps on facebook as so many people have been getting bans. There are tons of them aren't there? I wish they wouldn't do them at all and would find another way of us entering a comp instead.

Have started also limiting myself with holiday comp entries too and look more closely to see if they include travel/flights etc as some don't and I don't want to find myself winning something that I can't afford to go to!

Nice to know there are others feeling the same as me anyway. :)

So pleased I'm not the only one who avoids holiday competitions because of family issues.

Events that require travel are out too due to cost and making appropriate arrangements for care of vunerable family members.

So I'm limited to vouchers, hampers, toiletries and cosmetics, and only some of the clothes related wins- I'm a larger size so a company that only goes up to a size 16/18 is pointless.

Books and DVD's are okay too.

But as said they are the ones that get lots of entries... :(
  • I agree I'm glad other people feel this way! I know I am quite picky, I would say on most pages of the board I only enter a couple of competitions. I know I'd have better chances of winning something if I entered more but I just don't want the stuff on offer! It absolutely amazes me that people manage to enter 200+ every single day! Not for the time aspect (although as I work full time I don't really have time to do that), but I just cannot find that many I actually want to win.
2018 wins: Aspinal of London jewellery box, Boudavida gym outfit, HP Pavilion laptop, The List party tickets, All Points East festival tickets, Kiehls moisturiser, By Terry cc serum, Nars Liquid Bronzer, Benefit highlighter, Nars illuminator, Fresh advanced lip trio set, Cetaphil sample set, signed copy of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent
