Seller not in when gone to collect

I won an auction Monday night for a table and chairs £51. I arranged with the seller to pick it up this morning about 10am (depending on traffic) When I got there he had left a note to say he had been called to work urgently. I have emailed the seller since returning home and we are working out another time to collect.
Would it seem bad to ask that he reduces the cost of the table to reflect my extra travel expenses?
It is about 70 mile round trip, 140 for both trips.

I would ask him to cover the extra costs or to deliver to you for free now.illegitimi non carborundum0
