I have a gas prepay meter, I have arrears on it, it claims back £6 a week, anyone know if I don't top up for a couple of weeks does it take all the £6s I've not paid whilst I wasn't topping up or does it just take one £6 per week, even if I don't top up some weeks?

Also the daily standing charge, how does that work if no credit on meter?

(sorry not explained very well)

It will accumulate the due debt repayments and standing charges until you top up.
    From Scottish Power :
Remember that even when your supply is off, your meter will continue to collect the service charge and any debt repayments, so you will need to top up the credit on your key or card by more than the minimum amount shown to get your account back into credit. For gas meters the amount used while off supply will be deducted when credit is added to the meter.

As already said a PPM will always take any outstanding debt recovery, standing charges and emergency credit before you get any power. You need to bear this in mind if you go away for a fews days or more so you dont come back with a fridge/freezer full of rotten food.

Gas works slightly differetnly to electricity.
Normally it only takes the £6 from your top up, but if you miss a week it will look to recover that week from the credit at (£6/7 days=)86p/day (at 2am).
If you miss 2 or more weeks then it will look to catch up at twice this.
These deductions do not affect the recovery of the current week, which will be made from any top ups you make.

So if you haven't topped up for a few weeks, but have had credit on the meter all the time you'll not be far behind. If no credit you will be £6 x weeks behind.

The daily standing charge is done differently, and the meter will remember this and look for it before it turns the gas on. You can see how much it will take by pressing the red button from the credit screen - it shoudl change to £x.xx OWED.
