Not exactly 'shopping around' though is it... when the garages are opposite each other!
That 65p saving could be wiped out easily with the engine running trying to cross traffic or going to the roundabout to turn.
I'd happily pay 65p so that I didnt have to queue to fill up or pay.
The OP says milk is the same price, but what about Star Bars? I'm partial to a Star Bar.0 -

I've only filled up at a petrol station a few times in the past 2 years, but I use the village petrol station because if I dont, it'll shut and when I really need it, it wont be there.
Sure, use the other one as you're saving 65p a tankful, but once the other ones gone, and you're paying more as theres no competition, it'll even itself out.
I get the logic if your in a village..... however these are 2 miles from Tesco/Sainsbury's and Morrisons so on the face of it they have to compete with them..... except... they don't (or they don't even seem to have to compete with each other)Tilt wrote:Not exactly 'shopping around' though is it... when the garages are opposite each other!
This is not like going to two pubs opposite one another where one charges 30p more for the same pint but the toilets don't smell of urine and there are not people injecting drugs.... (OK that's putting it on thick - but I mean I'm buying petrol, not enjoying the ambience)0 -

To be honest I don't eat chocolate (I assume its some choc bar thing).... mainly because its 'a waste on money'...
I have been known to pay over £2 for a coffee though so my logic is flawed somewhere!
But here's another thing.... kinda linked....
BP head office has lots of free coffee and tea machines. You can just help yourself and its 'decent stuff' (not budget, (and you get FRESH milk)
They also have a place you can go and buy coffee or tea....
Whereas I can see people going to the relaxed coffee area to buy a cuppa and sit outside their office environment to drink it I can not understand why anyone would pay £2.50 to then take (in some cases identical) cuppa back to your desk?
From a casual observation it would seem over 50% of people buy it and take it to their desk.
I'm beginning to think I'm a tight-(rhymes with pass)0 -

Local Asda closes at 20:00.....0 -
If you got stuck when someone asks you if you bought any fuel, you probably shouldn't be allowed out on your own.
It's not a hard question really.0 -
I'm self employed and clock the petrol prices in the area I work.
I don't feel the need to drive extra miles to get 1p less on fuel however I might do a U turn on the same street.
There are people that have fuel cards that they can only use at certain suppliers0 -
Today I drove 0.2 miles out of my way to fill up at a Tesco Express at 137.9p as opposed to Shell at 139.9p. 60 litres so £1.17 saved which is about 11-12 miles of free motoring.0

How long did it take you to drive 0.2 miles? What's the extra wear and tear on your car and what is your time worth to you?
For £1.17, I doubt I'd bother myself. I'd pay for the convenience ... combined with the extra bonus of the points on the loyalty card I have. I am terminally lazy and buy fuel at the same place regardless of cost - which is a 2 minute deviation from my route to work.0 -

OMG where is that? Is that for unleaded? My local Mega tesco has it for around 131pFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
