He's ok hopefully a few more years in him yet.Was more shocked at the price of the prescription the drugs from the vet are £36.99 but on-line are £17.00 that's nearly half price. But when my vet said £29.99 for a single month script I was shocked.Asked if this was a 6 month script & was told £29.99 for every single month.0

This is one of my gripes. Total over-charging for meds that a pet needs long term.
For 7 painkiller tablets, I get charged over £14. There is no way I could afford this on a weekly basis. I now give my dog a painkiller when he needs it.0 -
Yes, one of our cats is on Felimazole - the price for 100 tables (6 weeks supply) seems to go up every couple of months. Last pot cost me £69.00. This is from the vets. I haven't dared to ask how much of this is for the prescribtion. So this is nearly £70 every 6 weeks for the rest of the cat's life (she's been on them for over 3 years now) I do think there must be an awful lot of people out there for whom this could be a deal breaker. I mean what do you do if you can't afford the medicines for your elderly pet?0

It's difficult to try and put a vets practice with its receptionist and higher standard of cleaning, qualified vets time etc etc etc, on a par with an internet store.
Of course the more that is spent via online vet supplies stores, the more the practices need to increase their charges.
I'm not having a go, one of my mutts was treat for ear mites and it cost me £69.06...... £25.00 for the treatment, £13 for ear cleaner and the remaineder was the vets time. Knew she had ear mites and the stuff on the internet costs literally half..... it does make me think.0 -
I get charged for prescription for carbamazepine for one of our dogs. Why do I complain? Simply because the vet cannot get this so I have no choice.
What amazes me even more is the different prices I pay at different pharmacies (yes people pharmacies)0 -
Problem is the vets never offer to give you the prescription so you can buy the drugs online. How many people have the courage to ask the vet for the prescription?
As for human medication, the doctor prescribes the drug & you can take your prescription to any pharmacy you choose.0 -
I must be very lucky! My dog is diabetic but the vet charges the same for insulin as I can find it available for on the internet - some vets are OK!0

Sorted,a family member who lives within the EU went to the vet today & asked for the same tablets the vet asked what type of dog was told 14 year old Jack Rusell he said it must be for his hart & handed the tablets over no prescription needed.A months worth including P&P was £17.04.0
