Assisstance dogs are taught to push- with the nose to work a pedestrian crossing button, & to push a door closed. Also in playing to push a ball around.
Also you can teach push with a paw
There are training tips online. Just found these - haven't watched so I don't know how good they are:

Thanks for your reply.. It's actually pushing on the chest while feeding.
Supposed to be good for behaviour issues, anxiety etc
My dog is very dog reactive on and off lead.. Wondered if pushing
Would be good for this ? She responds very well to me when I call her etc
Unless another dog / person is around.. I no longer let her off lead,
And have had to keep her on a long line again..
Pushing seemed good on google / utube but just not sure I get the point to it.
Anyone else know anything ?0 -
Sorry, I've never heard of 'pushing' as a training aid. Some new fangled thing??
I think my dog trainers would say go back to basics with recall, treating (food or toy) every time so that you are the most exciting thing since sliced bread! Build it up with off lead heelwork etc.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
