Hi
Looking at quotes for car insurance renewal coming up in the next couple of months.
Having never had to renew after a bump what do I do with how its declared? the claim was atypical supermarket bump, nothing major but it went to a claim anyway and split both ways.
The thing is my daughter was driving (teenager). She is covered on my policy so nothing illegal(!!) and I was open with the insurance that she was driving not me.
Anyhoo, as you know when doing on line insurance they will ask for details of any claims. Who do I put it against? Me as policy holder or against daughter? if I do both it would look like two accidents wouldnt it?
Confused
In my 50's so not worried too much of my premium but hate to think what my daughters premium will be! she could be walking!

If the question is have you made any claims, you must declare it. Presumably the claim is on your policy and daughter is a named driver? If so it is a claim by you not the named driver. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear.
Bengalknights is wrong. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
ok guys thanks for the info. Daughter is a named driver and I think any pain will be if I keep her on the policy. This could get hellishly expensive. Not so bad if just me. I presume current insurer (Direct Line) will send a renewal quote which will indicate the level of pain!0

This is wrong.
You only disclose the claim under the daughter's history as long as she remains a named driver. (If she is no longer named on the policy only then does it go on your history.0 -
There are 2 questions asked usually.
Have you been involved in an accident - answer No
Have you had any claims - answer Yes
these questions tend to relate to the past 5 years and assuming no further accidents or claims, the answers should be as above irrespective of whether your daughter is included in future years.0 -

No.
This claim was made by (and against) the daughter.0 -
Unfortunately OP, your in the situation where your current insurer has you right where they want you. No other insurer will give you a good deal, many won't even quote you with an open claim and your current insurer (knowing all this) will ramp up your premium to an absurd amount.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
