Fitting Internal Doors

hi there.

i have started fitting doors into my house and i have come across a door that looks like its going to be a nightmare,

the frame from inner corner to floor is:

the one on the left is 198cm
right hand side is 196.5cm and

76cm wide,

so the door needs to be 1.5 cm longer on one side than the other (then maybe some timmed off the bottom to allow for carpet etc)

what is the best and easiest way of trimming the door so there is a straight line from left to right trimmingthe door,

i also have a second door like this with approx 1cm that needs removing

(replaceing frames isnt an option as the door frames are done to the door for the room at the side in one continuous frame)

Square houses...not.... Trim a bit off the top (using a hand plane) and a bit off the bottom and it'll eventually fit. It'll take a bit of trial and error.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

thats what they have currently done in the room and its left a gap in the top left corner you can put a finger through, however according to my spirit level the door is level so its the frame

is it possible to cut a door at an angle to fit at the top, then trim off the bottom?

Yes just cut the top of the door to match the frame.

The easiest way is with a plunge saw,or try
A circular saw with a fine toothed, sharp blade and a straight edge(depends on door material it could splinter it)
    A electric plane.
A hand plane (but will take a while with the amount you need to take off.

    many thanks,

these were fitted this weekend, dad had an electric plane which made short buy very messy work of trimming them all to size, only advise i have for others is becareful how much you take off at one time, as one of my doors has a gap, due to trimming too hard/repetedly.

still look a hell of a lot better though

New frame in my opinion, do the job properly... if your a bodge sort then swing the door with a tight fit then fit it with the gap you desire.
