ESA-JSA payment length

If someone failed the WCA after being paid the assessment rate for 3 months and told to claim JSA is there a long break in between payments? Say the last ESA payment was made on the 29th Jan, would they get JSA 2 weeks later so there would be no time without money.

You aren't automatically switched to JSA but have to apply for it. Also they could appeal the ESA decision and recieve the assesement rate

  • Thanks torry, I'm asking on behalf of my husband, he has his WCA on thurs and we are both in no doubt he will fail as although he has COPD and angina he can walk further than the descriptors say, so it looks like we are going to have to budget quite a lot untill he sorts out JSA.
  • If he fails to show limited capability for work, they will write to you and tell you the date that the ESA will cease and advise you on the next steps.
    I have climbed the mountain . . . . .
