Update on SE chaos.
Like others I only got a gas read request but as I had seen earlier posts I also did the electricity.
To see how my change was progressing I tried to ring but as I couldn't get through in reasonable time on the phone I sent a mail and got an answer after 10 days. In their reply mail they showed my gas reading (as an estimate?) and a reasonably accurate electricity estimate as their figures.
My old supplier, Scottish Power showed my accounts as closed with amounts that matched the SE readings.
So far, so good until today SE sent a mail asking for resubmitted readings as their website had a "technical problem" this despite them telling me by mail what my readings were.
I also see my account still shows a credit in the amount of the monthly DD and this has not altered, being shown before any money was collected and now after the first DD has been taken.
Once this has all settled down and I have received my cashback I too will be removing my details from MSE energy group swaps.0 -
OMG! what a nightmare, i left scottish power as they were so bad, i have a feeling i have jumped from the pan into the fire!!
Tried contacting them for the last week to be told the queue is 25mins, i sent a email to which they have never replied, i was asked my gas reading but not electric, i finally got through today (after waiting 25mins) to be told my electric will be estimated and i will find out my usage and account details etc in maybe 3wks. I like to keep a monitor on my usage and cant, im very dissapointed and wished i had never done this collective switch, lesson learnt and not to be repeated!0 -
p.s i will be amazed if we get our cashback!!0

I still haven't received any info apart from an email telling me my Gas reading had been lost by their system.
How do we cancel this agreement?
Can someone from MSE sort this out. You recommended this and have received a huge commssion - £30 from 90,000 people.
Sort it out - it's farcical. I like many others will never use this site for anything switching related again - not worth the hassle.0 -
Like others, I received a letter last week asking for my gas meter reading, which I supplied using the automated phone line.
It was only after reading a tweet that Martin sent out last night that I've found they should have also asked for the electricity reading. I've been trying to get through to them this morning but can't get an answer. Not impressed, this is supposed to be easy to do, not a hassle.
On another note... I've received my final bill for gas from my old supplier (Ovo) but not for electricity - because of course they are still supplying me for that. So once Sainsburys get themselves sorted I'll receive a final bill from Ovo for electricity... which no doubt will be around the same time as Sainsburys take the first direct debit, half of which is for electricity that they won't yet have supplied me with. I realise of course that this will just add to the credit on my Sainsburys account but when money is very tight anyway it's something else that has added to my annoyance.0 -
I switched both fuels. The online account was set up quickly, confirmation letter received, all good. Tried to send meter readings on the online account which is surely what it's there for. That got the email "sorry there's a problem" response a week later each time.
I only got a letter with meter reference for Gas, nothing at all for electric. Phoned to give my meter reading on the auto system eventually but couldn't give electric as I didn't have the reference number. By this time EDF, my previous supplier had sent my final bill using estimated readings.
What a farce! I suppose it can only get better... right? Here's hoping. :undecidedThe trouble with common sense is... it isn't really that common!0 -
My online account is now finally showing my meter readings... however, they have incorrectly dated the "customer reading" as yesterday, despite my readings being from 6th March... when I originally supplied them over the phone! I can't see how they are going to be able to accurately determine my usage and monthly direct debit amount if they can't date readings accurately...
Also, no confirmation that the switch occurred on the 3rd March as they said it would and no final bill from my old supplier, Ovo, yet, which probably isn't a surprise since Ovo were awful with failing to supply me with bills in the past.0 -
Movement on my account. Ive received a final bill from my old supplier, with the correct readings. HOORAY!
Also had an email from se apologising and asking to email my meter readings, but theyve obviously got them lol
Im still not sure if I should switch again. I think ill probably wait until the contract ends, I cant be bothered doing all this again, especially as se are the cheapest at the mo
they have said theyll waive the exit fees however.
Progress made at last0 -
Just had to wait 20mins to get through to CS. I am in the same position as many others who switched to Sainsbury's Energy. Not asked for meter readings in time so estimates used. I was switched on the 4th March but strangely I am told only the gas estimate has been agreed with my old supplier. I have given Sainsbury's readings for both via the website but these seem to have been ignored.0
