Can anyone help with where I might stand. I purchased a Indesit fridge freezer last November and up until now has worked well. However it recently defrosted so all my food was ruined. The engineer came out today to advise we cannot keep it in the garage as it needs to be kept at above 10 degrees and therefore his call out is chargeable £50 . We didnt know this at the time of purchase but have now seen it mentioned later on in the user manual. To be honest Ive always had a fridge freezer in the garage so never knew there was any issue with temperature. I now have an almost brand new freezer that cannot be used when its cold outside. We paid £215 from Appliance direct but they cannot help. Any advice on this would be very helpful im desperate

If it says that in the manual, then I fear you need to chalk this one up to experience
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

You're pretty much stuffed, I know not a lot of us read manuals but this is probably a lesson for me - if I'm unfamiliar with anything I'll always now be sure to check it out.
A fridge freezer is designed to be used indoors in a kitchen - a normal kitchen will never get below 10 degrees.
Expensive lesson I'm afraid.
On a slightly unrelated note - when I worked for a large mobile phone retailer I had a customer call up expecting a new phone as they'd used theirs in the rain. They even admitted they saw it in the manual, but in their own words 'their old one didn't seem to mind'.0 -

This may not be not enormously helpful, but Beko do models which can be stored at temperatures up to (or down to) -15 degrees, so can be stored in the garage. Is there any chance you could sell it on? Perhaps an independant white goods shop might be willing to do a part-exchange...NSD May 1/150
