I'd like to agree, but with my history their offer doesn't make sense. I used and paid off a CapOne classic card to build my credit rating. Then I applied to M&S for 0% intro rate card which I, again, used and paid off. That's the beginnings of a very healthy credit record. Is there more than one credit agency? The only way it makes sense is if they don't check properly or they are keener on signing you up at a higher rate.

Yes, there are 3 credit agencies (iirc).

I think it could be your use of the overdraft that may make Barclay's nervous although evidently M&S do not appear to mind as much.

Banks are not loyal any more and to suspect that they should be is living in the 1970s. They are as fickle and selfish as the average individual so just vote with your feet. It is their loss remember ;)
    Thinking critically since 1996....

Barclays harped on to OH that a loan with them would be better than his car finance (also with them)
Ok, I said. What's the rate? 29.9 they said and wondered why I laughed at them.
    His car finance is 5.9....

So, as per usual, there is no rip off.

I think Martin should take this to Parliament.

    You want a loan.

Shop A is cheaper than shop B.

Buy it from shop A then.

    Next.

Don't worry there'll be a tv investigation into it soon. Dispatches will be doing a follow up to their food one last week, with similar amazing exposes like fruit and veg is cheaper at a market or green grocers and the bid supermarkets charge more in their convenience stores than a hypermarket.

A bit of a non thread really.
One lender offers a loan at a much higher percentage than another. Problem, how to choose. I know! Choose the cheaper of the two. There, that wasn't so hard, was it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Bit of a non-thread? Maybe the title "barclays triple interest rate" would have suited? Funnily if I'd have seen that I'd have thought "they are the most expensive bank." Even prior to this happening.

I haven't been back in to Barclays yet. I'm not as worked up as when I first got the offer. I'm just going to cancel my account. Like most of you have said, "vote with your feet". I wouldn't get anything else of them now, so why keep my current account?

Interesting that there's three credit agencies. Surely they share their information though?

Could worthy of the television. We just need some unsuspecting internetphob who used to trust "My Bank". Mmmmm....Now were getting a plot together. :money:

Definitely worthy of parliament as well. DC needs a route to plebs like me. ;)

    No. Each is independent.
