Things to do near Haven Thorpe Park? (family friendly)

Can anyone please let me know if theyve ever stayed in Havens Thorpe Park and if so whats its like please? Also are there any nice places to visit nearby? my children are 5,8 and 19 months so in a buggy. They love farms and the likes and funnily enough shopping. Also where I may look for discount vouchers etc?

  • Hi

we stayed at the park last summer, we have a tourer so I can't comment on their caravans but its a lovely park. Its within walking distance of Cleethorpes which has some shops and a "front" with amusements and wee bits for the kids. Right beside the park entrance is a theme park which although a bit dated compared to some theme parks, has lots of rides and attraction that I think would suit your kids. It doesnt stay open late so check first but I would say its worth a visit. (You can exchange Tesco Clubcard vouchers to use here)

There is also a lake just past this which has lots of ducks ect to feed, there is a large grassy area and a wee train which kids love. There is a chinese buffet resturant which was nice.

Depending on when you are going, there might be more things to do, there was a carnival when we were there. I've forgotten what else we did, lots to do. There is a cinema if the weathers poor.

We loved it here and I'm sure you will too.

    hi

We went to Thorpe Park on BreakFree / sun promotions twice last year.

A lot of the vans are privately owned so each time we got a good van much better than the 'standard" vans we had paid for.

The park has lots to do itself. Beach is sandy, the pool is good with an indoor small slide for little kids plus the large outdoor flumes / lazy river.

There is a Fishing Heritage Museum in Grimsby which our kids really enjoyed - you get to go in a real trawler and see what it was like.

Dont know about farms nearby - i work on a farm so we don't do farms on holiday! Lots of ducks on site as there are lots of streams running through the site...we saw lots of rabbits and even a hare by the side of our van. The red arrows did an air display in Cleethorpes whilst we were there so we could sit by the van and watch them overhead.

  • sadly the theme park wont be open whan we go (March 25th) ive actually been once before before we had children. However I broke my leg on the first day so was stuck in the caravan. We like what id say was a tradtional holiday, spending time together, swimming, the beach but I dodnt thinnk it will be swimming on the beach and paddling weather. I do have quite a few tescos vouchers but upon checking the website few places nearby seam to take them

Farm Parks: My son (3) loves Rushmoor Country park just outside Louth, I quite like Hall Farm Park myself, which is just the other side of Caistor.

The soft play centre opposite the boating lake is not too bad, the boating lake is very nice anyway. There's another soft play thing next to the Premier Inn on the A180 just west of Grimsby.

I believe Thorpe Park is the largest park of it's type in the country, there's quite a lot to do there anyway.

There's a seal sanctuary just north of Mablethorpe.

Another +1 for the little train and the "Chindian" restaurant.

When are you thinking? Do you drive? I live in Grimsby and will post where we go, sometimes a bit of a drive.

You will have to google these but give them a go

Donna Nook - If your going soon you will see baby seals
The Magic Castle - Large kids play area.
    Rand Farm Park
    Pink Pig Farm
Hubbards Hills (Bit chilly in this weather though)
    Elsham Hall
Waters Edge - Barton Upon Humber
  • Were going March 25th and yes my hubby can drive. We did look at Rand but read bad reviews. Off to google now and thanks

  • There is a place just up from thorpe park called the jungle zoo, they do have a website....dont get mislead by the name, its not really a zoo as such as its very small, but they do have some birds, monkeys, goats spiders snakes etc there. Doesnt take long to go round but my kids love it and we go every time we are there :) Its about £15 for a family ticket if i remember rightly. The boating lake is lovely too, you can feed the ducks (or go on a boat) and there is a nice little park for the kids there too, and a giant sand pit with an outdoor swimming pool in the summer too. The magic castle play area is good for a rainy day, huge too!

Food wise, the actual restaurants in the park are quite expensive! but if you walk out the main entrance and turn left there is a pub across the road which does lovely food and its only about £4 for a cavery, so a lot cheaper too :) The beach there is lovely, even at this time of year, and you get quite a lot of kite surfers use it, my kids love watching them.

We love Thorpe park and go 3/4 times a year even tho we only live 20 mins away lol....have a fab time!
