I have just switched to nPower as they came out cheapest. I have tried for weeks to give them the opening meter readings. The online system will only store Gas readings and ignores Electricity. Each time I call I am told it can take up to 28 days before elecricity meter readings are available. How I am supposed to provide my inital meter readings with them when they are not accepted. Over 28 days later Electricty is still not provided, and they suggest I wait another 28 days.
I cannot believe their systems are so bad. I don't want them as my provider0 -

I am now going back to N Power for my gas because they have the best deal for me. Been with them quite a few times over the years and no complaints from me.0

This company is so bad at billing,customer service is abysmal,it's a total joke,but then it's no joke when you are stuck with them because they mess your bills up and the fail to take DD and they block you from leaving because of there mistakes.
I will quote the ombudsman "it took npower 15 months to give you an accurate bill" yes they are that bad and no amount of phone calls can correct there incompetence,also they are very bullying,they threaten debt collection daily even when told not to by the ombudsman!
Absolutely criminal company.
I don't know how they are still able to sell gas and electricity in the uk.
Ombudsman services have a special dedicated option on the phone menu for npower.

They are really bad,I would avoid and switch before they give you a phantom debt and block you from leaving! That's how they roll at npower.
I found customer services very polite but unable to do a thing about the system that just doesn't work.0 -
Having a problem getting them to send a bill based on actual meter readings when someone moved out
I thought it has all been sorted out but just received yet another bill which is wrong.
What does it take to get a correct bill from them!0 -

In the end I come to the conclusion that the normal customer service on the phone at npower,couldn't change anything on the system and I even suspect they hire outside contractors just to answer calls and fob you off so they don't get told off by ofgem for not answering the phone within 45 mins.0 -

Well it seems they can do it.
Rang and asked who I needed to contact to make a complaint and they said they were cancelling all the previous bills and issuing a new one. They gave me a new bill figure which sounds about right so will have to see when the actual bill arrives.0 -
Found out the house I'm buying is currently supplied by Scottish Power. Read terrible things about them on here so did some rough quotes so I had a rough idea of what I'm doing when I move in and switch and Npower seemed to be the best deal. Now reading on here, that may not be the best choice either!
Are there any really decent companies out there or is it just all individual experiences and I'm just going to have to chance it and hope I have a good one?0
