ive a Sunvic SP100 programmer in my boiler cupboard thats prob as old as the house 1995.
returned from a weeks hol last night and the display was blank. theres a power switch in the boiler cupboard for the programmer and i turned this on then off and the display remained blank but the CH and HW lights cam on and the water/central heating warmed up.
i rekon the programmer is passed it sell by date, what would be the best replacement and is it expensive/easy to do myself? i can wire a plug and done some lighting before but im not brillant at DIY!
thanks.
PS looks like ive 3 red and 2 black wires goin into the programmer

It is very straightforward and can cost less than £25 but unless you are confident with wiring (it is more complex than changing a plug) it is best left to a sparks. Here is a chart of how your wiring compares to other brands http://www.heatweb.com/pdf/Invensys/Programmer%20Compatibility%20Chary.pdf
and here is a wiring diagram for yours http://www.sunvic.co.uk/codepages/downloads.aspx?file=/media/1333255/programmer_wiring.pdf
I got one of these for £22 from ebay http://www.reid-electrical.co.uk/shop/view/19229 but to fit it you will need to replace the backplate. The instruction manual does show which wire from your old unit goes to which on this one.0
