I used to have two facebook accounts; one for comping and one for my family and friends. I heard all these horror stories about facebook accounts being deleted because it was against facebook rules to have two accounts, so I deleted my comping one just in case my other one got deleted for me.
I have now noticed that more and more competitions are facebook based and I tend to have more red crosses on MSE than green ticks because I don't want to spam my family and friends with competition entries.
Should I open up another facebook account and run the risk of getting both shut down, spam my family and friends or just carry on ignoring the facebook comps and run the risk of missing out an a really good prize?

Honestly, what I do is share the competition, or page or whatever they want me to do, but select 'Only Me' when asked who will be able to see the post. It still counts as a share (well, the count number on their page goes up), so it should be okay.
If I don't win anything as a result of doing that, it's no big deal for me, as the only other option would be not to enter at all!Wins of 2014: *zip*

The company can tell from their list of shares who has shared publically. They might be less inclined to choose a winner who isn't sharing - if your setting are set to 'you can see it only' then you are not sharing with anyone.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -

Ah, I didn't know that! Well I don't have any part of my Facebook viewable to the general public, so there really isn't much point sharing with my friends on there either. Looks like I'll be skipping those too from now on.
It's a shame though, as I hear 'like and share' competitions are technically against Facebook's rules. I just wish they were enforced more strongly.Wins of 2014: *zip*

They are and I wish the same as you. I only enter the facebook comps which go through an app now, no like & share for me - I'm not spamming my friends when there are over 2000 shares for a dress (for example) especially when most of those shares are the same people
At least with the app ones it's all random, I've had some fab prizes from FB app compsThanks to all posters :A0 -
Hi i have two accounts, created it as i have no intention of spamming my friends or family's accounts, i wouldn't worry about it anyway because i am not, i know of others creating account specifically for comping. My Signature is MY OWN!!0

I enter fb comps and only have one account. I've changed my privacy settings so my friends can't see the pages i've liked e.t.c
There is nothing to suggest i've been comping on my fb page and i've won some rather good prizes.
I don't enter the "like and share" comps myself, so i don't have to worry about that.
FB do seem to be clamping down on multiple identities though. I read an article the other day that some people are being asked to verify their accounts with gov ID.0 -

How did you do that? - tried looking but couldn't find the option in my privacy section."And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0 -
I'm also suffering a surfeit of red crosses, partially becuase I don't enter like & shares ( I won one once & only found out by accident)proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

Hi Guys
I'm the editor for competitionclub Sandy.
You need to make sure you share as 'public' in like and share competitions otherwise the promoter won't be able to see you have shared at all.
The promoter will see your share in the numbers but in the list of names of people who have shared - you won't be there.
Hope this clears that up - I also have a useful note here well worth reading with tips and advice for facebook comping
