Colden Common

I am moving from Gloucester possibly to Colden Common, which is just south of Winchester in Hampshire, for work reasons, we were looking at Winchester but it seems to expensive. Colden Common looks quite nice but due to current restricitions I have not been able to properly check out the area. Can someone tell me if this is a good place to live, places to avoid etc. Or how I can go about doing research for myself without actually going there?
Thanks.
Thanks.

HI,
Colden Common is quite nice and, in some respects, better than Winchester itself due to the fact that Winchester does suffer from traffic and congestion problems.
Nice part of the world though, good choice.0 -
I work fairly locally. I don't really know much about what it is like to live in Colden Common. You will have found that Winchester Estate Agents offer Colden Common properties because they are a little cheaper. Carry on down the road further one way and you get to Fair Oak which is a little cheaper, and another way you come into Eastleigh which is a little cheaper than Fair Oak. You would have to balance travel to work time against house price and what sort of place best suits your lifestyle.
As a local solicitor I can tell you that some of the houses built in the last 20 years are near tip sites and there are/were methane bleed pipes etc but I don't know whether that really puts people off buying.
Try doing a free basic Environmental Search on http://www.homecheck.co.uk/hcf/
This gives coarse information only so don't assume too much from the results.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0
