Lie through your teeth as honesty gets you nowhere, then expect Atossers to do just the same.

My main worry is that I come across as confiedent at times when talking about my issues and Atos may misinterpret this - Autism and special interests

Do not make any special effort with your appearance, or take more pills than you would do on any other day.
Consider requesting the interview is recorded, taking someone with you, or covertly recording the interview.
Be aware that the assessor may take into account everything from the time when they first see you to the last.
Understand the basis on which you may be entitled to ESA.

If you have any relevant medical information you have not sent to the DWP with the initial application - take it along, and ask for it to be read.

Covertly recording it I would consider as essential.

It might seem excessive, but you have a good chance of regretting it a good deal more if you don't.

Or you could follow rogerblack's advice and do it legitimately. No point in creating a problem where there doesn't need to be one.

time2save, have you submitted a medical report to support your application? It sounds like this would be helpful to you, as it could explain the way you may come across?

Bear in mind that Atos probably have targets to throw people off disability benefits.

You will be under [constant]obseravtion form the moment you arrive in the car park, in their deliberately overbooked waiting rooms (the receptionist will be watching you) including the security cameras, the so called "healthcare professional" will watch you as you move from the waiting room to the processing room and then when you leave may well watch you from their window if they can.

Record your WCA as Atos cannot be trusted to submit an honest and accurate report.

Atos are unlikely to have followed up on any extra evidence they may need from your GP/consultant even though they should. If they don't have it then they can fail you easier. So try to include it in your ESA50.

Just remember Atos are there to do the government's dirty work and they're getting paid over £100 million a year to do it!

i have never had an issue at an atos medical (thank goodness) i always take someone with me as they can be helpful in answering questions also if you have mobillity issues as the atos staff arent keen on helping you on & off beds etc.. i answer all questions as honestly as possible but be aware they are assessing you pretty much from when you arrive- in the southend one for example when they call your name in the waiting area the distance to each door is clearly marked- so if you have mobility issues they can assess how far you can walk. i havent recorded a visit but know plenty of others who have & it has prooved helpful to them as they may have days when they are better than others. hope this helps & good luck xx

There is no statutory right to a recording.
If you turn up on the day, and the recorder is 'broken', unavailable, or a different HCP that has not given approval for recording is available to do your medical - you have no recourse.
If you do not proceed, you will be sanctioned.
The decision maker then only has to 'consider' if you have good cause due to this.
In most cases, they will probably decide not.
