Debit card payment/Formula one autocenter

Afternoon,

I paid a garage yesterday at 5.09pm for 'repairs' to my car for a total of £141.95 using a visa debit and ondered if there is anywayI can cancel it?

I have just been to my car and I have a huge puddle of oil on my drive...my car went in for an oil leak! I have just taken it back to the grage and the manager told me to get a second opinoin and if I can prove they didn't complete any works then I can go back free of charge, or go back and apologise???

I took a picture of the oil and he didn't even want to look at it, just told me to get a secind opinon. I am 7 months pregnant and no idea if my car is safe to drive to work tomorrow or not :(

Ask your bank if its possible to cancel, might be unlucky though.

NO..... You can't stop the payment.

Once a payment has been authorised. The only people who can stop it are the retailer or their merchant provider.

All you can do is as they ask...

Just do not move the car before you get anyone to look at it.

Get someone, a neighbour, friend or family to check the oil for you. It's easy enough for anyone to do. If it needs oil then don't drive it as it's will just leak again, but until you know for sure you don't yet have a complaint, the oil might have been there before it was fixed.
  • I have spoken with the ban and they can't cancel it, I can appeal after 15 days, but that's it.

This is the leak, I would have noticed this before and definantly not had anything like this...

If they won't look at the car again, I'd expect something in writing from them saying they're not responsible and will pay reasonable costs for someone else to inspect the car if it turns out they're liable. What repairs have they charged you for?

By all means get someone you know to see if it's safe to drive, and get a second opinion at another garage, but don't let anyone else do any repairs yet, or you'll struggle to get them to admit anything, and just pass the buck.

They appear to have a head office - have you tried them?

  • They have charged me for the following:

    N/S drive shaft seal
    Gearbox oil
    Oil and filter change
    Synthetic engine oil
    Oil Filter

I have spoken to citizens advice who gave me the supply of good and services act 1982 to quote to them and I emailed a complaint to there head office last night and have had a response to tell me they have passed it to the area manager so now I think it's just a case of waiting.

Unfortanantly, I don't have a garage near work and most of them close at 5.00pm so may have to wait until weekend before I can take it to another garage.

It's so fustrating - all I want is for my car to be sorted!!!! :(

Do you not have AA or such that could come and look.

Even at worst pop into quick fit.....

In all honesty by using the car you are making life harder for any resolution.
As it could lead to further damage or hide the fault.

  • Don't drive it if it's leaking gearbox oil.
