Conveyencing fees

I have a few itemised conveyencing quotes for a straightforward house purchase (no sale involved). I was very impressed by the first couple, the service seemed good and they felt trustworthy. The basic solicitors fees for them came in at £575 and £625.
Since then I tried a website which got quotes from about 20 other conveyencers, they were all much lower starting from about £130 for basic fees. Why the big difference? most of them weren't local although I guess this shouldn't matter that much.
I'd rather go with a recommendation (as the first two were) does anyone have any other recommendations for conveyencers which cover Berkshire?

We used Browns for a recent sale and buy in Slough / Burnham area.
They are fixed price and there is no charge if the sale etc falls through.
As regards how good they were well they got the job done and i suppose thats alll that matters in the end.

I used https://www.abodeconveyancing.co.uk recently, very competitive and all the solicitors are obliged to take your calls. No fees involved if your deal fall through as well0
