Possible mis sold holiday? Help before its too late!!

I booked my honey moon yesterday (26-01-13) to Sri Lanka in aug on the west coast, when I went into the travel agents I asked for a beach holiday for snorkelling etc but far away (Maldives, Thai land etc) she found me this holiday in Sri Lanka and was told it was a good place for snorkelling etc, so I returned home happy and got straight onto the laptop to read up only to find snorkelling is no good as the sea is rough this time of year and its dangerous to go in further than waist deep! I paid £500 deposit. What I would like to know is can I change this holiday and keep my deposit if I still use the same travel agents? Every thing else about the place looks perfect its just not what I asked for regarding the sea and snorkelling.
