I have both, but have noticed that Xbox games are about x10 the price of PC games. However, I would like to play on the big TV screen.
However how could I connect my laptop up so it is just as convenient to use as the Xbox?
Are games just as good on a laptp as on the Xbox?

Depends entirely on the spec of your laptop.
If you have a gaming laptop costing anything up to a couple of grand then it will blow Xbox away, if you have a £250 bargain special then it will struggle to even come close.0 -
As above it depends on the spec. of the laptop. I had to search high and low to find a laptop with a reasonable graphics card. Even then I am limited to what I can play compared to an Xbox.
This is a handy web site to see what your existing laptop can play.
Playing on the big screen is easy provided that the laptop and the TV both have HDMI capability and an HDMI lead that's a few metres long.

So a bog standard laptop can't run all games then?0

Depends on the game. World of Goo for example will run on almost anything; Crysis or Civilization V is another matter entirely.Desktop

Yes thats right, you might be able to get better smoothness by playing around with the in game settings but it might not make alot of a difference.0 -
Some games aren't available for both platforms - Halo for example. So you may find the games you want to play you cant get for the PC
Never buy new - eBay is awash with pre-owned games for the Xbox. Just bought Halo Reach for £12 inc postage & Halo 4 for £15 inc postage. Both play absolutely fine.0 -

On 'PC' the situation is reversed; modern copy protection often ties the purchase to a single end-user in perpetuity.0 -

Not even close. Basic games at best. You're not going to be playing the latest Call of Duty at anywhere approaching HD resolution.
You need to be looking at ones like Dell XPS for gaming but then the battery life sucks and you'll be lucky to see 45 minutes on battery when gaming.0 -
On the other hand you cannot get some of the "great" games on xBox, such as System Shock 2 or the original Deus Ex
Or even fan missions!
Some may disagree with my choice.:)
