A bill from Scottish Power but not with them
We changed over months ago to EDF from repay to credit. We have had months of problems with EDF & the change over but finally it is sorted! See a previous thread.
We have just received a bill from Scottish Power for 29 June 2012 - 22 January 2013 for £177.57.
Surely we don't owe this.
Who do we complain to, SP or EDF (yet again)?

You need to find out the exact change over date. Pay your old supplier upto his date and then edf from that point on, you also need to know what the meter readings were at the change over date to make sure you only pay your old company upto tat reading and your new supplier bills you from that reading.0

How the hell do I get the old readings, we changed over in April time.
EDIT: prob get it from EDF right as their starting reading.0 -
Right so details from EDF prepay before we could change to credit:
04 Apr 12 @ 2197 units
Should I sent that info to SP?0 -

So the problem is the address of the flat. 30b isn't on the postal database so things like deliveries, bank, etc are 30a 2nd floor flat or flat above shop. For council tax, water etc 30b is on their databases so we are 30b.
When we moved in Scottish power didn't have 30b so had to use 30a 2nd floor flat etc. With the switch to edf we could have 30b. Edf did the switch over from british gas not scottish power due to using 30b.
Scottish power claim they still supply 30a (but which one) and gave us a mprn number. Will this number be on the gas supply or only on the bill? I shall check tonight.
What happens if they both have the same mprn? The meter SP claim us to have has been taken out and the number written on the new meter.
You would think that as the old meter was pre pay SP would have chased us for payment before now.0 -
The mprn is meter point reference number. This isn't the same as your meter number, but if you find your previous bills, you should be able to see if it is the mpr that you've been paying for previously or not.
If you haven't already done so, I would get the meter serial number off your meter and call up the gas meter point helpline on 0870 608 1524 and double check what mpr actually relates to your meter serial number so you can be confident you are paying for the correct meter. Always check the mpr on the bills from that point onwards.
From your descriptions above it sounds like there is a lot of potential for mix-ups over the address!
The gas mpr helpline number will also be able to confirm who your current supplier is, and if the supplier has changed, the dates of the change and who the previous supplier is etcIndecision is the key to flexibility0 -
mprn for gas meter
mpan for electricity meter0 -
can you get through to an actual person, the auto line doesn't recognise 30b and seems to think there is only 1 30a0
-
Right finally got through to someone.
National database only sees 30a and 30b not 30a 1st floor flat and 30a 2nd floor flat, SP only see 30a. when we moved in (30b) the previous tenants appeared to be with SP - their payment cards etc. We tried to put our names to 30b but SP didn't recognise it so we used 30a 2nd floor flat or flat above shop, little did we know that this mean just 30a so basically both flats.
Everything was fine until we transfered to EDF and used 30b they transfered from BG who were the suppliers for 30b apparently, but we had no clue of this. Though everything was sorted untill we get a bill from SP. All the time we have been with SP it has been the wrong gas supply as 30b is 9112xxxx NOT 5335xxxxx which is for 30a downstairs. So basically they had our old meter on the wrong MPRN.
When we were still on prepay and we thought we were paying SP were we actually paying BT.
The tenants before us must have made a mistake when changing over or something, wonder why no-one at 30a ever tried to get their name on the 30a account maybe they didn't bother as it was prepay, who knows.0 -
DebraG we have taken you off our records and will in touch with the other flat about this.
Kind regards
