I'm a electrician and came across a problem when removing a socket. I have come up with a new idea for socket which would prevent any electrical shock and no restriction of cables, over time these cables can be come lose, but my idea would prevent this and would help you when decorating as we'll.
I'm not sure how to go about this idea or who to approach

First off before you approach anyone about your idea get it patented http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/patent.htm.
Once you've done that then you can look to actually turning it into a business.0 -
How do u go about doing this0

Why do you think people would fit one of your (more expensive probably) sockets rather than a standard one. It is very rare that sockets are actually touched unless a fault develops, as you should know being an electrician.
You can patent the idea but how will you then get it to market?
Is this another well thought out scheme like your web hosting? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Came across this when I was wallpapering my living room and removed the screw to remove the front of the socket and found a live wire which had come lose. This could of cause me n electric as I not had to tuck the paper behind.0

Do you often work live?
I was taught, never touch until proven dead.
Even wallpapering, if you are taking the screws out, it should be isolated.:eek:0 -

The europeans have solved this by using clip-on plates (the switch remains fixed to the back box) and there is a screwless option for the UK. Watch the video on the first link.0
