Barclays / Barclaycard

I recently successfully claimed for a Barclaycard account that I currently hold.
However, whilst going through old records, it occurred to me that I also had a few Barclaycard accounts in the late 90s/early 2000s, a Barclays loan (staff, as I was a back office clerk back then) and a few Barclays accounts - Current, Savings etc. As I was in quite heavy debt back then the balances were quite significant. As the main Barclaycard was a Gold card, the credit limit was continually raised and I was often quite near it.
I intend to do an SAR, as I only have details of the account numbers when passed to a DCA. Records are likely to be patchy as I went through two house moves and a family break up around that time. Although I'll search for paperwork there's likely to be a lot missing (the ex chucked a lot of my stuff out but I think I rescued most of it). All held in a storage unit so it's going to take me months to search through it!
Firstly, can I combine Barclays and Barclaycard on the same SAR? I read somewhere (might have been on here) that there's only one request needed per organisation, however I'm not sure how these two are classed - although both are subsidiaries of Barclays plc, not sure how they're seen with regards to this rule. If I can combine them, who do I address the letter to? I've not got a problem with sending two SAR's if needed, but I'd rather it cost one lot of £10 if I can get away with it!
I have details of my Barclaycard Gold, Mastercard and Current account number. However, I also had a Barclaycard Reserve account, and I'm sure I also had a number of other Barclays accounts (savings etc). It's also possible that these numbers changed at some point, as I recall losing my wallet once. How would I refer to these on the SAR, or will the presence of some numbers be enough? Would it be worth putting 'and associated accounts' after the account numbers I list?
How are Barclaycard when dealing with old records? Are they normally quite good at holding on to records? I recall reading about an issue with Microfiche records that people were coming up against a few years ago where Barclaycard argued that these were not classed as a relevant filing system under the act, was this ever resolved?
Does the fact that I complained about a specific account (the one I have now) and received my refund affect any subsequent PPI claim for an older account? Also should Barclaycard have searched for and processed the older accounts as part of the claim?
Thanks for any help that you can give.

Put the claims in with the account/card numbers that you have, ask them to look at other cards that you had previously, this should help, if you have any statements then send copies of these too, hopefully they will find most or all of these, if you hit a dead end then do a Sar.0

In terms of SARS you are supposed to send them separately to each company, however I believe you can try sending it just to Barclays and they'll still provide you the info you need.
Barclays account and card numbers change all the time however they will still show as linked to the same account and if you had PPI it would just carry over each time. If you have just one number for the account, they should be able to find the details of previous/subsequent numbers for the same account. Putting "associated accounts" will usually result in them just looking into everything they hold for you.
In terms of SARS, Barclaycard have a timesaving method whereby if you mention PPI they will simply provide you with a letter giving you your account details and whether or not that account had PPI according to their systems, free of charge. I'm not sure their records are the most accurate but I have heard of them having record of PPI going as far back as the 80s before.
Complaining about 1 Barclaycard account does not affect complaints on others unless they are linked accounts (i.e. the same account but with different numbers over time). They also do not proactively investigate your other accounts unless you specifically request them to, they'll only investigate the one you provided details for.0 -

Thank you for this - this will hopefully save me a bit of time.
How do I initiate this - is this something I can phone up for (if I've got the account numbers) or will I have to write to them? Do you know if there's a specific department I need to ask for / address the letter to?Competition wins:

It's best to send the request in writing to either the Customer Relations Dept or the Data Protection Team at the Northampton address. It's still a SARS request, just be sure to specifically mention that it's in relation to a potential PPI complaint.0
