I have been told I can have a taxi payed to bring me to uni. The taxi ride will be about £60.
Will I be given the money to pay for the taxi or have to send in proof to claim the money back?
Will the DSA cover a taxi to take me back home?

Close one of your threads - silly to ask the same question in two parts of the forum.
And, since you're off to Uni, it's paid.
If they pay for your transport to then they will pay transport from, too. But whether it will be paid for you I don't know.
Are you REALLY expecting 'them' to cover transport costs of £120 per day though? Seems excessive. But, in all honesty, given the high cost of this you need to ask the relevant Government dept; get it from the horse's mouth, as it were.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Do you mean at the start and end of the term - you surely can't be expecting them to pay £120 per day as travel just for one person!0

They do,
I get DSA as well and my taxi single is around £45 but I had quotes on my report for around £60 single
OP - On the SLC website (practioner's side) it has a Taxi Account Form so you can (get Disability Advisor to do it) and you can have a particular taxi company and need not worry about paying the whole amount as you will only need to pay the public transport equivalent
In my case that was the £45 - [minus] £1.90 for single journey
OP makes sure that SFE/NHS/SAAS/whoever have the correct Public Transport Equivalent figure as on my DSA report it had £5 single   but I and my Disability Advisor got in touch with DSA Team @ SFE and state that a non-disabled student could get a bus (from City X to City Y[where my Uni is]) for £3.80 day return; which can work out as £1.90 single
I had to print screen the bus company's website which showed the price to them in the email
Wether the non-disabled student or me or whoever takes the bus is neither here or there
Hope that helps + get reciepts from Taxi comp just to prove you've paid them your share and tell management to inform drivers that you only have to pay set amount [x] and it's on account
Nightmere issue at the moment as this is currently causing me not only embarrassment but waits like 10 mins each day
In an ideal world SFE or whoever would scrutinise the taxi comps for charging so much and the discrepency between them all but that's for Auditors to look at
BTW you may be able to get more taxis if you need them, especially if they have set a fixed amount of how many you can get, talk to Disability Advisor for any help
Take Care,

OP, it's less than two months since you were talking about doing a degree in Business Studies or Law. It would be a really good idea if you could have a discussion with a Careers Adviser as your plans seem to be all over the place.0

I agree that sounds like a good idea - you don't seem to know what it is you want to do. I though Highers were equivalent to A-levels?SPC #1813

What happened to the OU studies Bryando? Home learning would seem to suit your circumstances more.0
