Shard - View From

Just booked my (Overpriced) tickets to the Shard.

There's plenty of availability hence why they've been doing a lot of spin to the press this week. I assume not many people want to pay the rip off prices.

I live really close, if it fell over it would hit my flat so I'm fascinated with it and go past it many times a day.

Is anyone else going ?

  • Yep I've got mine booked for the end of Feb. Overpriced yes, but I like seeing London from up high. Should be interesting though.

Friend of mine went today, she's a professional photographer and struck lucky with the weather, got some awesome moody black and white shots with shafts of sunlight
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

If you have tickets for the Shard today, the weather is sunny and clear with the odd cloud.

    Visability will be amazing.

    Enjoy...

I bought tickets last weekend and could have almost picked any day and any time for the whole of Feb.

If you're going, Borough Market is about 100m away, has amazing variety of fresh high end foods for sale. The Monmouth Coffee shop is reputed to sell the best coffee in London, it's busy though.

    If you like Whiskey... http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/vinopolis-location.aspx

The Shard is very close to the London Dungeons, you also have plenty of things to see on the Southbank eg Globe Theatre, London Aquirum, London Eye and Tate Modern etc. You also have the very old Southwark Cathedral and if you want something a bit unusual this is very close and very intersting http://www.thegarret.org.uk/

North of the river you have the Monument (Great fire of London) and St Pauls.

Tower Bridge and Tower of London short walk away.

It's a very historic part of London, there are still many original buildings from the time as very important dock, look up at the buildings as you walk around as many are still original.

If you making a day of it check this website http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/ as a lot of the attractions are two for the price of one if you have a train ticket from outside London.

https://www.tfl.gov.uk is good for journey planning etc.

There's plenty of free parking at the weekends a short walk from the Shard.

Should have come back quicker, sorry.

He loved it, took some fab photos - he went at 3.30 p.m. so he could get daylight and dusk/evening photos and they are lovely. He said there didnt seem to be any time limit at all, he was up there for 1 and half hours.

Sounds great. I think we might splash out next time we are there.
