I am seriously considering applying for a job in the Arab Emirates/ Dubai with my husband and daughter. He is all for it and she is 7 so I haven't discussed it with her and won't unless I get a definite job offer.
My questions revolve around money and maximising the benefits of the tax free salary etc. I'd have to do it for a minimum 2 year contract and rent out my house here. I would also need to consider my savings and investments.
Has anyone ever done this? What are the positives and negatives? How did you organise your finances etc.
We are quite adventurous and my husband is a fluent Arabic speaker and the schools I am applying to are English speaking so it could be fun! Any input gratefully received!!

I'm hopefully heading to Abu Dhabi, To work for Etihad airlines. Is your hubby applying for jobs? He cant go on your visa although you could go on his.
My friend is going to Abu Dhabi to teach in a arabic school she lived in Dubai for a year and is desperate to go back.
My hubby is staying in the uk until I am settled then he will join me in 6 months or so But he has to get a job that will allow him a visa too.
The is a massive brit ex pat population over there so your daughter will make friends and also be able to go to a British School and stick to the national curriculum.
I'm not 100% sure what to do re savings etc but we are plannign to rent our house out rather than sell up.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
