Watersure? Does anyone know about this?

Hi All

Well I have been looking at the Watersure scheme, I have been struggling with paying it and saw that you can get help.

BUT I don't have 3 children! So it says you can have it if anyone in your household has weeping skin diseased, then in bracket says (eczema).

Well both of my children have eczema, but is this the same eczema that we all know????

The Watersure scheme is (in this case) for those that have increased water costs due to disability in the family. Eczema in the traditional sense would not be covered unless it was very severe e.g. you had to change the bed covers each day due to bleeding or infection.

Thanks that makes sense to me, however my water company website simply states that you need a GP med3 form to confirm that this is the case, they will then accept you to the scheme.

It also allows people with 3 children to qualify, with no disability, or conditions.

Obviously you need the Tax Credits or one of the stated benefits too.

So you need to be honest with your GP and ask if he will provide a note - is your childrens eczema so bad that you have to change the sheets every day?
  • No, and I'm very very glad that it's not!

But I would still like a discount, equally if I had one more child I'd qualify, I'm sure I wouldn't use that much water with one more child. And disability or medical conditions do not come into the eligibility requirement.

I simply find my water too expensive, but when and if I do have a third child I'll get it anyway won't I.

We all find our utility bills expensive, that does not mean you should apply for a discount that you are not entitled to.

The fact that those with three children are entitled is irrelevant. If you think the criteria is unfair then make a complaint and see what response you get.
  • I don't think that will do much good :-)

Nor do I, but it is the only legitimate option you have. ;)
