Reselling, business plan means nothing, you can plan lots but if there isn't any money coming in on plans then there isn't any point

But that is the point of a business plan - you do some research into the likely sales levels in worst case and best case scenarios and use those to estimate profits. If your best case scenario shows that you won't be making any profit then it's a definite non-starter.

It sounds to me like you've seen a hosting firm offering reseller accounts and thought that sounds like a way of making a bit of money and just bunged a website together (without finishing it) and then started advertising.

As others have said, unless you are targeting the packaged solution market (i.e. making a big thing of Wordpress/pre-made eCommerce packages) you are dealing with people who know what they want and also know and want a professional provider - an impression which your site isn't giving at the moment.

My advice would be to start from scratch. As a starting point, get your website finished and legal. Once that is done then you can think about advertising.

I've started a web hosting business and have spent bit on facebook offers but no one buys when they claim the offer. Any ideas how I can turn these into sales. I've done a offer of 75% off unlimited web hosting for only £4.99

I suggest doing some seo with an emphasis on forum posting from the start. You'll get backlinks from the forums and if they are relevant you will get the website infront of potential customers.

Your site has no privacy/cookie policy.

Your site has no physical contact address.

You are breaking Nominet rules by using the non-trading individual opt out to avoid showing your registration details.

A number of the links on the site go to 404 pages.

If you can't even get the simple things right it doesn't give much confidence, so I wouldn't touch your business with a bargepole.

Basically this. I recently changed my web hosting provider because I was being let down by my previous one. If my website is down then I'm losing money - simple as. So while I'll look for deals then more importantly I need someone completely professional and reliable to provide the hosting. If you can't even get your own website to run properly then why on earth would it give me faith that you can do mine.

There is money in everything if you do it better than the competition, from what it sounds like you do it considerably worse so I'd expect you to make no money from it.

As opposed to jumping on in there with an ill thought through idea thats poorly presented and noone wants?

On the plus side, it hasnt cost you more than a handful of beans to try.
  • You dont have enough control as a reseller to run a viable webhosting business. It is fine for web designers who sell hosting as part of their all in one solutions but not as a serious stand alone offering.

At a minimum you need a dedicated box(es) that you have root access to and that you can fully specify. Really you need to be able to manage the physical aspects of it too otherwise you are waiting for messages to be passed from company to company to company when you ask for additional HD to be added into the config etc

As to the comment about not bothering to do a business plan.... kind of sets the tone of the "business" and its probability of success.
