    Am I missing the point?

I dont understand why anybody would want to reduce their entitlement in this tax year, just to 'force' themselves to get used to what they will be entitled to next year?

Never been poor have you? Unless she resolves this situation she won't actually have enough to live on in the following year.

I can assure you that I have.....you know nothing about me!

and I still dont know why you wish her to deprive her family of 'more' this year.....just so she can feel the pain now of the reduced money next year.

    Am i missing something?

The entitlement for this tax year.....i.e. 2007/2008..... is based on your income for the tax year 2006/2007.

The £17odd salary assessment won't kick in until april 2008...the thresholds will go up then anyway, so your probably won't end up much worse off.

I'm sorry but could people please stop talking about me like an idiot when I am not the one who has completely disregarded this individual's personal circumstances?

The OP is not simply receiving CHILD tax Credits; she is also receiving the Childcare element which will be CONSIDERABLY altered by any increase in income and particularly one that exceeds the minimum liveable income threshold. In fact dependant on her individual circumstances it may be that she is asked to repay the childcare element in the following year as she would have been technically earning enough to pay all of her own childcare this year (though in practice I appreciate this is not the case).

So in effect, next year she won't just have to get used to a lower income and covering her own childcare costs but she will also have to repay this year's overpayment either by handing over money or by having her other tax credits reduced.

Kurjam you need to contact your local CAB in the first instance and your local MP if you still don't have any joy. Note it would also have been helpful to clarify your situation more clearly as some people take tax credits as being a single payment rather than made up of a variety of elements like Working, Lone Parent and Childcare.
