Just to give a 'heads up'. If you read OP's history you will see a multitude of postings which are rants against this system and the other.

There is another thread on this very subject (which the OP has been given) so if the OP has a genuine query they can read that.

Sorry, but personally hate spending time answering questions only to find that they are verging on 'troll like'.

Have you checked all GPs understand this ?

GPs have enough to do without knowing all the ins & outs of the benefits system.

Maybe you can explain the OPs post & what's going wrong.

I know 17 GPs that do understand this,as for the rest of the General Practioners in the UK, i have'nt a clue what they do or don't understand as they don't pay my wages.

As for explaining whats going on with the OP's friend? Maybe her GP doesn't think she is unfit for work or maybe the friend needs to point out to her GP the part in the letter were it says 'if appealing fit notes can still be issued'.
As you say GP's have enough to do without learning the ins and outs of ESA claims.

    That's the problem

We're talking about one person the OP & their doctor,

You can't speak for all GPs, some who may feel under pressure or may have misunderstood or may have been incorrectly influenced.

If a GP cannot understand the very simple letter they have been sent, I would be questioning their ability to practice medicine.

Exactly & what are you going to do about it, complain, change doctors, tell DWP their doctor is at fault, general medical council, MP.

What matters is the OP & their doctor.

I would change doctors if they were that incompetent, as well as issuing a formal complaint - the issuing of fit notes is part of their NHS contract.

If the DWP are bulling GP's then surely we should take the DWP to european justice of human rights court!

Couldn't decide whether it would be the European Court of Justice or the European Court of Human Rights so just merged them into one?

I believe this is due to the doctor skimming the (poorly written) letter.

    Seems reasonably straightforward.

Contrary to the allegation in this thread and the other one, there is no "do not issue anymore"; there's no bullying; there IS an invitation to send them when appropriate; and not even a mention of fraud.

Only if they believe the patient actually medically require it. A lot easier to say to the patient 'sorry can't do DPW told me not too', then 'sorry, I don't think you are medically unable to work, but I don't want to start an argument about it with you now, I have other patients who really need my time waiting'.
