iPad Mini smart cover at Tesco

Options
I didn't know what section to put this in the forum but since this its regarding the iPad mini I'll put it here.

I seen a Smart Cover for my new iPad Mini at the Apple store going for £35. I didn't buy because I remember seeing them at Tesco and with me having a clubcard I thought I'd use it to earn points when buying the Smart Cover. However, shock horror when i went to my local Tesco to buy the Smart Cover it is £5 more expensive than at the Apple Store:eek: How can Tesco justify the price of an iPad Smart Cover at £40 when Apple and any other store are selling them for £35.

Shock horror, a commercial firm determining their own price for a product in order to generate a profit for their business. Gee, that was totally unexpected.....
  • I don't know what you are getting at. My point is if Apple who are the company who decides how much their products will be say £35 then greedy corporate companies like Tesco should sell them at that actual price. Everywhere else is selling them for £35 but I guess with Tesco being greedy they have to grab the extra fiver out people's pockets. You'd have to be mad to purchase something at that price when they are RRP of £35 everywhere else so no they are not making a profit in the long run.
  • I'm sorry, from your first post I hadn't appreciated Tescos had physically held a gun to your head and forced you to buy the cover at their 'inflated' price. Oh wait, they didn't...

Why should Apple decide what price another company should sell their products at?

If Tesco choose to sell at a higher price then that is up to them. If they have had them at that price then they are obviously happy with the level of sales that are being generated and will have compared that with their estimates of the sales likely to have been generated at the lower price and decide that there is currently more profit for them at the higher price.

There is a big difference between Apple and Tesco - most people do not go to Tesco specifically to buy a cover for their iPad, it will be an impulse buy while they are doing their grocery shopping and they will not consider that they might be able to get it cheeper elsewhere.

At the end of the day, as TrickyDicky indicated, no one is forcing you to buy it at the higher price, so you are free to go to Apple and buy it from them and save yourself £5

You'd be horrified to know Tesco sold some at a cut price a while ago for the ipad 2/compatible models.
So they do sell cheaper when they want, and they also sell dearer when they want. For an ipad that is out only several months now (that is not the size of an older model) you'll expect to pay full whack on them.

Tescos is allowed to sell what they want at whatever price they want. If we compared every place to somewhere else, we'd have millions of threads saying Tescos charged me 5p extra on an apple compared to Morrisons etc.

    Ebay do good replacement models.

Don't be stupid. I am only making a point why Tesco are the only stores selling at this ridiculous price when Currys/PC World, Apple, Apple premium resellers and Argos etc are selling at the proper £35 but I didn't realise that this forum is full of people who work with the fat cats at Tesco.

Can't speak for the other posters, but I don't work for or even shop at Tesco.

Only posted to point out how ridiculous your posts have been (a fact that is backed up by your attitude when you don't get the response you were looking for).
  • I am only mentioning this as I planned to use my Tesco club card to buy the Smart Cover for the advertised RRP price of £35 only to be really disappointed that Tescos price is £5 more than the RRP. I didn't realise that there wasn't a law to prevent companies from selling stuff at a higher price than the RRP.

I can handle a useless reply but I cannot handle sarcastic comments. I was just showing my frustration considering I saved buying from another store so I can use my club card. Money is pretty tight and I thought this was a money savings forum.

Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
