Sainsurys Energy
Hi,
I recently signed up to Sainsburys Energy and all the bumph came through with Sainsbury Energy on the letter head.
I called them to add my Nectar card and the letter came through from British Gas to say my card has been added.
Is this normal? I know BG supply Sainsburys' g&e but I thought the set up would be more professional than this.

British Gas run the account, in much the same way as if you go to Ebico all your dealings will be with SSE.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I can see why British Gas maket through Sainsburys, because Sainsburys have a good ,positive reputation, and British Gas, courtesy of BBC Watchdog etc, have a lousy reputation. I still think it is a slightly underhand method of gaining customers and that OFGEM should stop it. The same with TESCOs, you end up with First Utility supplying you. What next, you sign up with , say, Waitrose, and end up with the likes of Spark Energy0

Hi,
I am thinking of switching to Sainsburys energy.
Does anybody know if I get Nectar Points?
Also is it better to get cashback through Sainsburys or cashback site like quidco?
Sorry if these are basic questions, but I am new to forums and this is my first post!0 -
We switched to Sainsbury' early last year it went OK though there was confusion over who we were supposed to be dealing with i.e. We were getting correspondance from both Sainsbury's and British Gas. Got that cleared up once I queried it.
Up to this month, things seemed fine but just got our latest Statement which shows us still with £14 in credit. But it then says, they will be upping the monthly payment by £8 from April .
I queried this and have just rcvd a reply that suggests it's because they calculate the rate over a 12 month period and our current fixed tariff, that ends in June, is 14% lower than their standard tariff then "This alone, could be why" we have this increase.
I don't know if this is normal practice but surely they should wait until a new tariff is in place before making any assumptions - after all, I may well switch to a different provider when the current tariff ends.0 -

The entire Virgin Group business model runs on that basis. And many others.
Is Plusnet 'underhand' because it runs on the BT network?
Or John Lewis broadband underhand because it's run by Plusnet? No free lunch, and no free laptop
