Pixmania: just received camera but with all French instructions!

Is this normal? The camera instructions are all French, the rechargeable battery charge is two pin (but they sent an adapter).........

Very abnormal as most cameras (and other electronic goods) in Europe come with a booklet of instructions in about 20 different languages.

Is French just the 1st language in the booklet and there are others further on?

I had the same situation with Pixmania. Got a French manual. However this was stated on the item description. Also my charger was a two pin european style. They however did not send me a free adapter.

  • Well I just read their t&c and it states that Canon etc. products come with FRENCH instruction. I have to download instructions in English from the Canon website. I did however, get an adaptor, but how cheesifying is that - they should spell it out a bit more clearly :(

    not pleased!

I bought from there, but the site does say the products are European. I got a camera in a French box with a 2 pin plug, but they sent an adapter. The instructions were in various languages including English.

They are much cheaper than buying from a UK shop, so worth having a French box IMO!
Here I go again on my own....

I emailed them about why I didn't get an adapter. Was told its in the T&C's that you will get a two pin plug. They advised me to buy an adapter!!

There is no need to buy an adaptor if you have a French plug. Just put a wooden skewer inside the earth hole of the british socket (there is no risk of electrocuting oneself as a) this is the earth so no polarity and b) you are just pushing the protective plastic bit downwards).
With your other hand, push your french plug inside the two other holes.

    Hey presto......

I have loads of the adapters kicking around (they are about 10p each in Singapore), but thanks for the suggestion!!
