Help: nexus 10 failing to connect to home wifi router

Options
So I received my Nexus 10 yesterday from TNT. After opening the envelope, the (Samsung) box had both seals broken. It says on the seals that you shouldn't accept the package if seals are broken. I called Google Help who offered me a refund or exchange but after hearing their explanation I decided to stick with it. They said that this was because during the ordering process I had asked for Google to preset it. However, IMHO it still leaves room for abuse of product, if you see what I mean.icon6.gif

So I Switched it on and after clicking 'start' it takes you to a wifi menu. My router appears at the top with signal 'excellent'. I enter my password and then the problem starts: I get 'Authenticating...' or 'authentication problem' in a loop. I can't connect to my router at home. I took it to a Costa Coffee hotspot and it connected. However, I didn't enter my password because I had a feeling I would be returning the device.

Anyway, I cannot connect to my Thomson TG585 v7 router. The router is working fine with my laptop and Blackberry and my password is accurate. I'm on 2.4 Ghz and channel 6 if that means anything.

Can anyone help? Many thanks.

  • What security have you got your router set at, I know some tablets will not accept WEP security, WPA is OK.

You really should have your security set at WPA as I understand WEP is easily cracked.

It's set at WPA/PSK with TKIP+AES and the version is WPA+WPA2. I'm not a techie so unsure how useful this all is. Also, I'm on 802.11 b/g not n, if that makes a difference. I don't have 'n' on my router.

Ah, you need a better expert than me then.
  • Finally was helped by my ISP who suggested to change to channel 11 from 6 and to modify security.
