Faxing from Canada.

Does anyone know what code to dial to send a fax from Canada to a UK fax machine?

I'm renting a car at the weekend in London and my boyfriends Canadian and the car rental company want him to fax his drivers licence to them. I thought that it would be 044 208 660 ****, he's tried this way twice but it won't go through. Have I got the format wrong?

Hi It would be 011 44 drop the zero and then the rest of the number. for example if the fax number is 01666 123456 from Canada you would call 011 441666 123456. The faxes are normally just like the phone calls from there I used to live there for 32 years so that should work. Taffyscot

Yep general rule for dialing a voice/fax line - they're the same, it's just what equipment anyone has put on the end of the line that's different - is:
- international dialing access code/prefix - eg in UK is 00, in US/Canada is 011
- country code - eg 44 is the UK's, 39 is Italy's, 1 is US/Canada's
- the phonenumber, with 0 omitted from UK numbers

hence the three parts combined from Canada->UK : 011 44 208...
