Thanks artha for the explanation, being from the north os Scotland it's not a saying I have ever heard but learn something new every day, the scullery is the name my gran used for the utility room
Very educational this thread:) It makes me look up the etymology of terms that people from other parts use as everyday words. I associate scullery with larger houses that had a back kitchen (scullery) where the washing was done by the scullery maids. Funnily enough our kitchen at home was always referred to as the back kitchen by my mam and dad even though it was the only one. Must be because they were from landed gentry stock fallen on hard times and having to live in a council house:rotfl::rotfl:Awaiting a new sig0 -

we call our sitting room/lounge the front room even tho its at the back of the house....
and the back door is on the side :rotfl::rotfl::hello: The grass is not greener, it just looks that way from a distance :hello:0 -
Just done a stock take on our stash;
Huggies wipes (From the original APG days) are running low now but stock levels peaked at over 200 packs previously. I'm not even going to try and calculate how much we've saved on them.
1p sweeteners are down to 3 packs left.
Lurpak has just gone OOS.
Cathedral City is down to 1.
Chocolate, cereal and all domestic cleaning products are at healthy stock levels.
I really should try and work out how much money we've saved over the last couple of years. Must be in the thousands. BIG thanks to all the contributors on here.:beer:0 -

Well we are not gentry:rotfl: gran had a council house too , when I think about it we call the back hallway the back lobby, and when I lived at home "it's through the house (hoose)" was the way to explain that something was in the other room:rotfl:The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -
We call it the "front room" as well, and ours is at the back of the house:)
My favourite word in a house is kitchenette. We used to have a Kitchen-Diner and used to call it that:)Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -

Good Morning everyone
Didn't get a chance to get on much yesterday as had a shed load of work so have loads to catch up on I see.
Back in a bit but happy glitching to anyone whose heading out.0 -
:eek: my gosh I only had about a tenth of that and now using the starter kits to replenish, what do you do with that amount unless you actually have babies, which as I type this I realise you probably do:o, forgive me only had one coffee so far (my excuse:rotfl:).
Izzy you can never have enough wipes. My youngest kids are at school now and I still use them for wiping faces and all sorts. I always have a stash of them whenever they're 'nearly' free and panic when I'm down to the last couple of packs and there's no sign of a glitch :eek:0
