When I'm at home checking apgs I go to the print menu & change the destination to pdf so that I can save it & email it to myself at work. My dd thought it would be fun to put rice cake in our home printer!
Coupons = the only money we can legally print for ourselves:D
:j A coupon for a free item that is price glitched in Mr T's to be cheaper than Sada for an apg = HEAVEN :j
:money: total = £47.48 cc = 413 selling stuff = £23.00 Floor pennies = £5.790 -
You could ask if the school has a fund to help with fares.
Do bear in mind that the student is going to have to make the same journey at least termly, so the costs of this will have to be met from their money. There is no extra grant or loan if you go to a university far away.
Disagree with the last point, students wear anything around campus and I doubt lecturers would penalise students who aren't dressed smart.
It's not the fact that the uni's are far away that's the problem. Once she's got into one she can budget for her travel.
The problem is that they've all come at once. She has interviews for 3 unis in the next 2 weeks and has 2 more to hear from.
I'll get her to ask at college if they have any funds available. Thank you.0 -
PPs from Friday have arrived.
Got one for £9.97 after purchasing the gillette gels on Friday.
Tescos rang me today over the extra points and told me I needed to buy the blades as well as gel for extra points, tried to act stupid but to no avail.
Took them back today and got £20 refund from a £23 spend plus the PP for £9.97 every little helps :j0 -

You get an extra 10% off instore and online, and a free gift up to the value of £5 on your birthday (you can choose anything instore) Also, it gets stamped when you spend over a certain amount instore. Not sure how much , but you get another gift after so many transactions. I don't spend instore - wait til glitches online :rotfl:0 -

Hi CQ the LYB card isn't included in the deal I posted earlier I tried adding it to the basket on it's own with the code and it stayed at £5 and charged delivery

Learn from the past, enjoy and appreciate the present and work to make your future the best it can possibly be

I think the same applies, they are far more interested in the person than the clothes. They are also encouraged to encourage students from disadvantaged backgrounds to apply and wouldn't refuse to offer because of what someone is wearing.
In theory maybe but I do not believe that I would take the risk, people are known to say it has no bearing how people look/dress but when it comes down to the choice, the boy/girl next door look gets the picked over the pink hair ,lip pierced, grunge dressed individual no matter what the situation ,just my opinion. The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -

There should be help available from your DD's school or college. At least, there was last year when my DD was doing similar. As a result of EMA being abolished, each school is given a hardship bursary fund which they can allocate on a discretionary basis. You will probably have to complete an application form, similar to the one for EMA, to evidence household income etc, but my DDs school was very supportive and she received a bursary for assistance with "essentials to further education".
Maybe start there, but there are also all kinds of educational grants available for people on low incomes including from water companies, local charities, etc - think there is a section on MSE about it. But our schools support team put us in touch with those they felt could help my DD - they know what is available locally and nationally. There is sufficient support available to ensure that no young adult should be prevented from pursuing further education on finance grounds, but it does take a bit of form filling along the way. Good luck and also to your DD in her Uni applications x
edit - seems to still be available

Thanks for the link Rooted Nomad. I'll get her to ask about it at college tomorrow. I knew there were some funds available when she got to uni but I just wasn't sure about any help getting to the interviews.0 -

Had a nice day today. Went to pick up my coconut peanuts from Tropical Sun from the sorting office, popped to Boots and picked up a couple of bits of jewellery for BFs girls' birthdays, £2.50 for both and BF will think I've spent a fortune! Popped into Robert Dyas and saw a treat ball for £5, they were shifting all the sale stuff to another store so I made a nuisance of myself near the shelves and a young chap asked me if he could help, I said I fancied the dispenser but was hoping for £2.50, a quick word and I got it for £3 :T:T Then I popped to Wilkinsons and picked up a couple of 90p Lynx shower gels. Rather annoyed at BHS though, still not made any further reductions on their Christmas stuff:(
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
