A word of warning for all and a lesson in honesty for 3 young lasses I encountered today.

Nipped into As this afternoon for a couple of essentials so decided to use SS to pay. Asked for £50 cashback and waited until the machine spat all the notes out before I went for the receipt. I subconsciously counted the number of notes I heard being chucked out but only recalled hearing 4. The queue was building so I walked off and started putting the cash into my purse. I never normally check but today I did and turns out I had only heard 4 notes come out. I walked back to the till to check the notes slot and a young girl saw me coming and handed me the missing £10.

It was then as I walked away I realised the girl hadn't reached into the slot for the money, nor did she seem surprised to see me. The biggest giveaway was the fact the note was folded in half. I waited patiently outside the store with a couple of pound coins in hand. When the girl & her mates came out I walked over for a chat.

Me - "are you the girls who found my £10?"
Girl - "yeah but we gave it back to you"
Me - "I was going to give you a wee thank you for that" whilst showing I had coins in my hand

The girl looked really sheepish and said it was OK she didn't want the coins. I told her very nicely that she wasn't getting it anyway. I explained that if she'd come straight after me (I'd only gotten about 10 feet away) I would have insisted she take the £2 and be rewarded for her honesty but as she'd simply taken the money and made no effort to be honest she had lost out. I told her to remember this as that money could have been someones last £10 to feed their kids with and she'd just stolen it.

If I'd been long gone or the money had been found in an empty car park then my loss for not being more careful but to steal within eye sight of someone is wrong.

Moral of the story for everyone, double check the cashback from SS tills as that last £10 came out separately.
SS tills dodgy for cashback
I can not remember now but wanted lets say £20 out was chatting to the poor sod on there as we generally have a bit chat when she is on tills anyway picks my cash up, receipt and bags.
Walking away and thought as I only had £10 did I press £10 or £20 so stopped and turned around walking back .
She asked what was up and I said I thought I asked for £20 but not 100% so she goes rummaging around not that far but it was not visible and retrieves £10 and says they sometimes dont slide down.

So moral of the story dont get distracted and secondly they only beep to say the cash is still in there when it is at the bottom of the tray.

I have also been at cs services when someone has come back after forgetting to pick up her £50 cashback from one and they asked which till and what time then gave her it straight away as sa had handed it in because she/he had heard the mc beeping :T:T:T

Thats right generally we have none or very little warning.
Yet we all know its going to happen at some point and dont make enough effort I guess :o

I know its very upsetting but be sure that your wife asks him all the things she has ever wanted to know if you know what I mean, I have so many things I never asked people who have now passed away.
Thanks QPR, I'll make sure she does.

He was diagnosed in the middle of December and I am so grateful that we are now at the end of January so my lovely wife and our two incedible kids (4 and 6) don't have to associate Christmas with his passing. My heart really goes out to all those who have lost a member of the family at Christmas.:(:(

    v v funny blondy..

My fil has just been diagnosed with throat cancer which will not be treated and the doc has given him less than 6 months.

He is a lovely, lovely guy and I really, really wish he could have breast cancer instead. At least then he could have a moob or two removed and we could get to keep him..

Sorry, filling up here, better change the subject.

Thoughts and prayers to you both xxx

MIL is still waiting for results of a scan almost 3 weeks ago, very concerned as she is worried her cancer (salivary gland) has returned. They think nerve damage when she had the op to remove it a few years ago has caused partial blindness but when she went to get the blindness checked at the hospital they just said they could something on the side of her face but weren't sure what so did some more tests and she went back to have dye put through her. We are all on tenderhooks in case it is the cancer back but hospital obviously in no hurry.:(
