  • Prehaps a little walk before you go out and a dongle (toy) with treats in would distract them.:)

I walk her before I go out, she flakes out in her bed. If I'm at home after her usual walk she sleeps for hours so I don't know why the difference when I'm not there.
I bought them Kongs and they keep them occupied for quite a while, she has a maze ball but knows exactly what way it works so has it emptied in seconds where as the kong takes her almost an hour to get the contents out.
They have other chew toys but don't bother with them, I put them away for a day or two then get them out again but they never seem interested. They do like squeaky toys so I got a few of the 10p xmas ones from sainsbobs that someone on here had mentioned but they fight over the same one even though they have one each.
They like tennis balls but they only last a few minutes before they're in bits on the floor :rotfl:
I think the main problem stems from the guy who had them for the past year allowed them to do whatever they wanted, they went where ever they wanted and they barked whenever they wanted, they only got told off when they guy was fed up with the noise.

Slowly but surely I'm changing them but I know it'll take a while, I'm just hoping it happens before the girl gets fed up and calls the dog warden:(

  • Morning folks

I need a bit of advice, girl 2 doors down has complained to my neighbour about my female dog barking while I'm out. I know some of the time it's because they lock themselves out in the yard so have started propping the door open but they've now learnt how to move whatever I use out of the way and close the door.
The last thing I need is a complaint going into the housing association or the dog warden but other than locking them in the kitchen everytime I need to go out or just staying in I don't know what to try.
The neighbour was very good about it, she managed to persuade them to let her speak to me before going to the dog warden but they're complaining about daytime noise, they've been quiet most nights for the last week, I'm at my wits end.
It's not like I'm out for hours at a time, one of the times they're complaining about is during the school run and I'm only gone 20 - 30 mins, my longest is a Monday and a Wednesday 3hrs from 2.30/3pm until 5.30/6pm depending on the day. The rest of the week I'm in unless I've got to run out to deliver something.
I just don't know what else to try, going to give locking them in the kitchen a try while I'm at my mums for dinner. I'll give my mobile number to the neighbour so she can call me if they do start that way I can head home to see why they're playing up.
    TIA

Why not try a dog training centre and ask their advice. It's a common thing with dogs so possibly could be trained out of them.

Provided its daytime and only limited periods of time I really don't think dog wardens or housing associations would be that bothered. Sounds to me like your neighbour is just a picky so and so.

Take no notice of our ever helpful friend bcw123.
