strawberry plants could i use this.....

Im new to growing stuff.

Today I got 30 strawberry plants from b & q for £1.00 good bargain i think, not got any space in garden to plant them was gonna buy wall baskets but i dont get sun on wall, so was wondering if the planter would be ok to grow them in, it wont cost me owt as i got £10 on my nectar card to use up.

    It would look nice. Keep it well fed and watered and it should be OK. Let us know how you get on

  • That should work fine. I bought a hanging basket holder which holds four baskets that same style (except not stacked on top of each other). I planted eight strawberry plants in each: four in the top and four in the sides (I cut 3" slits in the liner and pushed them through from the inside).

    if you do buy it, in future years, when your 30 strawberry plants are a nice memory (the plants only last around 4 years) you could try doing this method as suggested by another MSE'er.

    I bought this exact same planter on Saturday purely for growing my strawberry plants in!

    They do look nice, and as they produce runners I expect it'll be fine to pin them down into the pot below.
